At the regular meeting of the Star City School District Board of Education on Monday, September 16, 2024, the Board approved naming the new tennis courts the "Emily Snyder Tennis Complex." In honor and memory of Bulldog Tennis Coach Emily Snyder, an official resolution was signed to formally name the courts. The district has already begun planning for appropriate signage, and a dedication ceremony will be held on a future date.
The resolution reads:
WHEREAS, Emily Snyder served as head coach of the Star City High School Tennis Program for five years; and
WHEREAS, through her dedicated leadership, she has had a positive and lasting impact on student-athletes; and
WHEREAS, over the years she has built a strong tennis program that the district and community can be proud of, laying the groundwork for future generations; and
WHEREAS, the construction of the new tennis courts is a significant enhancement to the Star City High School campus and athletic facilities, with much credit to Emily Snyder for paving the way with her program; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate to recognize such a distinguished educator by naming the tennis facility in her honor and memory; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Star City Board of Education hereby names the tennis courts in honor and memory of Emily Snyder as the “Emily Snyder Tennis Complex.”
