The Star City Cross Country Team competed in the Bob Gravett Invitational at OBU this past Saturday, September 3.  The team had runners in all four races, however was only able to field a whole team in the Jr. Girl’s two-mile race.
Coach Kiernan stated, “It was a very good showing for the Star City runners for the first race of the season. The best performance for the Bulldogs was from the Jr. Girl’s team as three runners won individual medals for their performance. Only one other school, Lake Hamilton, had more medal winners in the race.
Maddie Anders, 8th grader, ran in her first ever Cross Crace and finished 8th overall. Returning 9th grader Kaylee Eifling finished five spots behind Anders in 11th while returning 8th grader Ally Grayson finished in 16th. Brianna Luker finished next for the Bulldogs while Josie Brown finished up the team score. The Jr. Girls finished 5th in the team competition.
Other top performances for the Bulldogs were Caden Young who finished in 35th in her High School 5k race, and Zavon Blackmon who finished in 30th in the Jr. Boys two-mile race.
The team is looking forward to another great season.
